Beautiful Mountains ǀ A Point of View

February 23, 2018 till January 6, 2019

Paintings of mountains have a long tradition in Switzerland and they are enjoying enormous popularity today – even if or perhaps specifically because we are in the age of digital image-making. Beautiful mountains are not just beautiful; they are also incredibly popular. What do these paintings mean to the people who look at them? Why is there a need for “beautiful mountains”? And where does cliché meet reality?
